Niepoort launched its first rosé in 1999, trying to show that quality wine could also be rosé. Fermented in barrels and from old vineyards, Redoma is a harmonious and very gastronomic rosé.
With the freshness of a white and the complexity and structure of red wine, it shows a different perspective of a rosé.
The 2019 wine year was characterized by a dry climate. Spring started with high temperatures, which decreased and remained low throughout the summer. There was some precipitation, which occurred at the right time of the plant development and the flowering took place in excellent weather conditions, resulting in a medium to high production, with very healthy grapes. The mild days and the cool nights of August originated slow and balanced maturation.
The harvest started on August 8th. The harvest peak occurred in the week of September 8 to 15, ending on October 1.
We consider the year 2019 as exceptional for DO Douro wine, with a perfect balance between natural acidity and sugar content in the must. The result is white and rosé wines with great purity.
The grapes of Redoma Rosé come from Quinta de Naples and several plots of old vineyards nearby.
After careful selection at the table of choice, a delicate pressing and cold decantation followed for 48 hours. The alcoholic fermentation occurred spontaneously in French oak barrels of 228 and 500 liters, where it rested for about 5 months.
The year 2019 was a very rich year in the color of red wines, is a very difficult year for the elaboration of our pale and bright pink rosé. In the aroma, the presence of the barrel is evident, combined with a bouquet of dried flowers and some red berries. Very fresh, with high acidity, Redoma rosé shows in the mouth an excellent balance, very dry and with a long and persistent finish. It is a highly gastronomic rosé with aging potential, just like previous harvests.
